miHoYo was founded in 2012 by three Shanghai Jiaotong University graduate students who shared a passion for technology, anime, comics, and games culture. They first created a free mobile game called FlyMe2theMoon. After the successful launch of FlyMe2theMoon, miHoYo was officially founded and registered as a company in 2012 and has since released mobile games Zombiegal Kawaii (2012), Guns GirlZ (2014), and Honkai Impact 3rd (2016).
In 2020 miHoYo created their first console game, a Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild clone; Genshin Impact.
